Over the past several months we have experienced an increase in OFCCP audits that have incorporated the review of a contractor’s online recruitment systems to ensure that it meets the needs of individuals with disabilities and qualified disabled Veterans.
In a recent study conducted by the Center for Corporate Equality (CCE) the OFCCP was called upon to become more transparent. The 65 page report begins with the following quote:
“Executive departments and agencies should harness new technologies to put information about their operations and decisions online and readily available to the public. Executive departments and agencies should also solicit public feedback to identify information of greatest use to the public.” Barack Obama, January 21, 2009
OFCCP Becomes More Aggressive
The new face of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) brings with it more intensified audits. During the 2010 we may see the abbreviated audit become a thing of the past as OFCCP has reinstated the on-site audit process at the District Directors discretion. This combined with the increased OFCCP budget and staff will produce a larger number of audits conducted by OFCCP as well as an increase in the financial remedies for women and minorities.
